12 weeks post sarpe surgery

So I thought I would just check in...I am now 12 weeks post surgery and 9 weeks since I stopped turning my device.  Which when you think about it really is not that long...so when I have those thought will I ever be able to eat normally again and enjoy a sandwich or a burger forces me to bring myself back to reality and realize it really has not been that long.

I checked in with the orthodontist to be sure that once the braces are put once I would still have some type of tooth to fill in  the gap and I was assured there would be.  That is a relief.

I have starting eating food that is a little more solid...pieces of a potato chip here and there but still being careful.  I want to be sure everything is healing the way it is supposed to.

I keep my retainer in all the times except when I am eating to keep my pallete stable and let it heal properly.  Which has help me to lose about 10 pounds since surgery.  I have gone back to the gym but still only yoga and water exercise..I tried the treadmill one day and not quite ready for that yet.

Feb 18 braces go on!

Update..

I had a visit with Dr Taub , the surgeon , yesterday.  He said everything looks good!   Took a quick X-ray to make sure everything was healing properly,   He said he agreed that 4 more weeks until braces sounded right and is about text book, that would put me three months post surgery and said..see you in three months to see how your doing.

Today it was back to Dr Tunjay, the orthodontist,  to get my retainer.  Much more stable than the temp one I had. This one also has a fake tooth in the front for me which is so much better than the gap.  When I was ready to leave he said 5-6 weeks I will see you to put the braces on..I said that is what you said 2 weeks ago..we should now be at 4 weeks..no more like 5-6... I said ok I will meet you in he middle.  So I go back in 5 weeks on Feb 18th for my braces...next step here we come!

My teeth are still feeling weird.  I want to go to the dentist for a cleaning but really can't imagine what that would feel like right now.  Brushing or using the waterpik feels weird.  I am still mostly eating softer food but I am chewing.  Noting like chips or bacon..which I had tried to eat but it did not ok out so well...

So probably no updates for a little while unless there are some changes ...
